Your MMU ID, password, PIN and logging in to our resources

Contents

Your MMU ID

  • Your MMU ID is automatically created for you when you register for your course.
  • Your MMU ID is the same as your student/staff number, which is also on your student/staff card.
  • Your MMU ID password is initially set to a default which you have to change at the earliest possibility to something known only to you.
  • MMU IDs are managed by your ICTS team, not the Library, so you need to contact your ICTS team if you have any problems with logging in etc.
  • If you forget your password, you need to contact your ICTS team to have it reset. Library staff are unable to help you with this.

Logging in to our resources

  • Most of our electronic services require you to log in using your MMU ID.
  • This saves you from having to remember lots of different ID and password combinations.
  • Some resources may take you to a page where you have to agree to terms and conditions. In most cases this only happens the first time you use the resource.
  • Some of our resources have their own separate IDs and passwords. When you follow the link from our web site you will initially arrive at a login page where you use your MMU ID. This leads on to a page with the log in information for the service and a link which you follow once you've noted the log in instructions. Again, this saves you having to remember many different ID and password combinations.
  • If you have problems logging in, please see our troubleshooting guide for advice on what to do and who to contact.
  • Our Electronic Library FAQ has more detailed information about logging in.

Your student/staff card and Library PIN

  • Your student/staff card is also your Library card.
  • It lets you into the Library.
  • It allows you to borrow books and other items.
  • Used with your PIN, you can request and renew books and other items on the Library Catalogue.
  • More information about your card can be found on the detailed borrowing information page.
