Provides on-line video streaming of over 460 Art Council films on UK post-war art and documentary film-making since the 1950s. Features 20th Century British Art, architecture, film, theatre, poetry and dance. Artists featured include Bacon, Spencer, Hockney, Moore and the Young British Artist (YBA) group. Film makers like Anthony Minghella and Isaac Julien, were commissioned to make films for the collection. The films document particular art movements that have continued to influence contemporary British Art, such as Surrealism, Dadaism, Futurism and Kinetic art.

Subject coverage: The database covers all aspects of dance from performing art to ritual, from all cultures and countries. This database contains the same data as Dance on Disc, which was previously available from the Library's CD-ROM server.
Data retrieved: The complete catalogue of the New York Public Library Dance collection, the world's leading repository for materials on Dance. It contains approximately 398,000 records, in all media, including books and journal articles.

Access notes: The database can be accessed both on and off campus via the web. Using the web interface, it is possible to limit searches to journal articles and books. Here's how: If you search in the SUBJECT Dancing field, you will retrieve a list of relevant subject headings, with an indication of the number of references. If you then click on one of the Subjects, a series of red buttons will appear near the top of the search screen. This can take some time. Searches may be limited to BOOK/TEXT which retrieves both journal articles and books.

The International Computer Music Conference (ICMC) is the preeminent annual international gathering for computer music composers and researchers. Subject coverage: an online music resource with a database of over 130,000 tracks of music (over 8800 CDs) from over 20 record labels including Naxos, Dacapo, Gimell, BIS and Collegium which provide a streaming service in 128k CD quality. As well as this exhaustive catalogue of works, there are also additional webpages from text resources, composer and recording notes, and a Playlist function.

Access notes: There are limits to the numbers of people who can use this service at any one time. If you are denied access, it may be that the maximum number has been reached. Try again in 15 minutes or so.
A username and password which may be obtained from any MMU Library helpdesk is available for academic staff who wish to create and edit playlists for their students.
